Everyone’s body adapts differently to exercise. The key to losing weight is to find a routine of exercises to which your body will best adapt . Once I have established this benchmark, I can design a program based entirely around exercises that work within this routine. I have developed a unique ‘screening process’, which allows me to determine the most suitable intensity level at which to train your body.
Once I have established the type of exercise which will benefit you most, I will review a number of important issues with you that will affect how successfully you can meet your weight loss goals. Among the most important issues are:
- Fuelling your body with the correct food
- Being and remaining hydrated
- Eating at the right time
A phrase, which I hear frequently, is ‘eat little and train more’. While this approach to weight loss will work to some extent, if insufficient amounts of carbohydrates (the body’s preferred fuel) are consumed prior to exercise, the body will be forced to draw upon other energy supplies. This in turn can damage your metabolism and muscles and slow you down from your longer-term goals.
I pride myself on the variety of exercise programs I have developed and continue to refine based on client needs. I have over 100 different routines based around weight loss. Variety within a training routine is absolutely crucial. Repetition of the same routines can lead to boredom and is one of the primary reasons why people ‘drop off’ their exercising. Mixing up your training is an essential part to achieving your goals and every client I have worked with who was aiming to lose weight has done so!
